How did you know your Mira Zwillinger dress was ‘the one’? I had discovered Mira Zwillinger early on Instagram - I think through an ad - and the brand always stayed in the back of my mind. It was one of the first things I saved to my bridal archives. I tried on many different types of gowns, but by the end, the final two I was choosing between were both Mira Zwillinger: Jordi and Suma. I know I would have loved Suma too, but it felt a little more casual and beachy. For the wedding, I wanted something with more drama and presence, while still feeling light enough for the Keys. When I tried on Jordi at Mark Ingram in New York, it immediately felt right. It was ethereal, airy, romantic, and comfortable - but still fashion-forward and unexpected. I later purchased through Chic Parisien so I could do fittings in Miami, closer to the wedding.
What was most important to you when choosing your wedding gown – and why?
I wanted a gown with a strong point of view – something more abstract and dimensional than traditional bridal lace, but still soft and romantic.Because we were getting married at The Point, a windy space on the water with a cobble stone road leading toward the beach, the dress needed to have presence without feeling heavy or hard to move in. Jordi had that balance: dramatic, light, editorial, and completely at ease in the Keys setting.
How did you feel when you tried on your Mira Zwillinger gown for the first time - after it was custom - made to your exact measurements?
I was honestly shocked by how well it fit once it arrived stateside. I expected endless fittings because that is what you always hear about with wedding dresses, but Mira’s measurement process was so detailed that there was hardly anything to change. It made the whole experience feel calm. The bodice fit beautifully, the skirt moved easily, and I felt happy, comfortable, and very much myself.
What’s one thing you learned during the process of finding your gown – that you’d love future brides to know?
The right dress should make your vision feel clearer, not more complicated. It should make the setting, flowers, styling, and overall mood make more sense.I also learned that comfort does not mean sacrificing fashion. Jordi still felt like a true bridal moment, but because it was so light and natural to wear, I could actually enjoy every part of the day.
What are 3 tips you’d give to any bride planning her big day?
- Start with the feeling, not just the visuals.

- Edit more than you add.
If you had matching accessories (like a veil or topper), how did they enhance your bridal look and bring your vision to life?
My veil was custom-made to complement the strapless Jordi gown. I had only seen a loose sketch when I ordered it, but that was enough – I trusted the vision.Because the gown had so much texture and dimension, the veil added softness, movement, and atmosphere without competing with it. It felt like the final layer that made the look fully bridal.
Looking back, is there one mistake you made during the planning process – and what would you recommend future brides to avoid?
Letting too many outside references dilute your own taste. There are endless beautiful ideas, but not every beautiful idea belongs at your wedding. Build a strong visual language early and protect it. Once you know the world you are creating, the decisions become much easier.
